What Does Our Bare Face Balm Actually Do?

Share

You might look at our Bare Face Balm and think, okay… but what does a face balm actually do? 🤔

Is it a moisturiser? A face oil? Something you put on when your skin is really dry?

The answer is a little bit of all of those things, but there's more going on inside this little balm than meets the eye.

We created Bare Face Balm for those moments when your skin feels dry, tight, uncomfortable or just a little overwhelmed. It's a concentrated blend of nourishing botanical oils, mango butter and beeswax, designed to leave your skin feeling soft, supple and deeply nourished while supporting your skin's natural barrier.

And the best part? You only need a tiny amount.

So, what does Bare Face Balm actually do?

At its simplest, Bare Face Balm helps nourish, soften and condition your skin while creating a protective layer that helps keep moisture in.

Your skin barrier plays an important role in keeping your skin comfortable and helping prevent excessive moisture loss. When your barrier isn't feeling its best, your skin can start to feel tight, rough, dry or sensitive.

That's where a balm can be beautiful.

Rather than simply adding another lightweight layer to your routine, Bare Face Balm gives your skin a richer combination of oils, butter and wax that helps condition the skin and seal everything in.

Think of it as the cosy little final layer of your skincare routine. 🧡

What's actually inside Bare Face Balm?

Every ingredient has been chosen for a reason.

There's no giant list of unnecessary ingredients, just a carefully selected combination of oils, butter, wax and supportive ingredients that work beautifully together.

🌿 Mango Butter

Mango butter gives Bare Face Balm its rich, nourishing character. It's wonderfully emollient, meaning it helps soften and smooth the feel of the skin while adding that beautiful cushiony texture to the balm. It's especially lovely when your skin is feeling dry and in need of a little extra comfort.

🌹 Rosehip Oil

Rosehip oil is one of those beautiful botanical oils that has earned a permanent place in our skincare cupboard. It's naturally rich in fatty acids and helps condition the skin, leaving it feeling soft and supple. It's a gorgeous ingredient for a nourishing facial balm because it brings both skincare benefits and that beautiful botanical quality we love.

🌱 Jojoba Oil

Jojoba is another favourite for facial skincare. Despite being called an oil, jojoba is technically a liquid wax and has a lovely skin-compatible feel. It helps soften and condition the skin without making the formula feel unnecessarily heavy. It's one of the ingredients that helps Bare Face Balm glide beautifully across the skin.

🌸 Camellia Seed Oil

Camellia seed oil is a beautiful lightweight botanical oil traditionally used in skincare for its softening and conditioning properties. It helps give the balm a silky feel while contributing nourishing fatty acids to the formula.

✨ Olive Squalane

Squalane brings that gorgeous silky slip to Bare Face Balm. It's lightweight, smooth and helps leave the skin feeling soft and comfortable. This is also one of the ingredients that helps balance some of the richer components of the balm, so you get nourishment without the formula simply feeling like a thick layer sitting on top of your face.

🌿 Castor Oil

Castor oil is a wonderfully rich oil that helps give the balm its beautiful texture and contributes to the conditioning feel you get when applying it. It works alongside the other oils rather than being the star of the show.

🧡 Vitamin E

Vitamin E is included as part of our formula to support the oils and bring antioxidant properties to the blend. It also contributes to the overall nourishing feel of the balm.

🐝 Beeswax

And then there's beeswax.

This is an especially important part of what makes Bare Face Balm a balm rather than simply a blend of facial oils. Beeswax gives the product its structure while creating a breathable protective layer over the skin. That layer helps slow moisture loss and helps keep all of those beautiful nourishing oils and butter where you want them, on your skin.

It also gives Bare Face Balm that satisfying balm texture that melts slightly as it comes into contact with your fingertips.

🌿 Frankincense

And finally, a touch of frankincense.

We love it for its beautiful botanical character and the grounding, calming feel it brings to the formula. It's the finishing touch that makes using Bare Face Balm feel like a little ritual rather than just another step in your skincare routine.

Why does it feel different from a normal moisturiser?

This is one of the biggest differences you'll notice.

Bare Face Balm isn't a traditional water-based moisturiser.

It's a waterless balm, meaning the formula is built around oils, butter and beeswax rather than a large water phase.

That makes it highly concentrated. You're not applying a big dollop of product and spreading it across your face. Instead, you take a small amount, warm it between your fingertips and gently press it into your skin.

A little really does go a long way.

Why does my skin feel so soft afterwards?

That's the combination of everything working together.

The oils and mango butter help soften and condition the skin, while the beeswax creates that protective layer over the top.

Together, they help leave your skin feeling smooth, supple and nourished.

And because the balm is so concentrated, you can control exactly how much you use. If your skin only needs a little nourishment, use a little. If your skin is particularly dry, you can apply a little more.

Your skin gets to decide.

How should you use Bare Face Balm?

This part is beautifully simple.

After cleansing, take a small amount of Bare Face Balm and apply it to any dry areas.

You can use it morning or night, or whenever your skin feels like it needs a little extra nourishment.

And if you're using our Bare Face Oil too, try:

Bare Face Oil → Bare Face Balm

The oil gives you a lightweight layer of botanical nourishment, while the balm provides that richer finishing layer. It's a beautiful combination when your skin is feeling particularly dry or thirsty.

You don't need much

If there's one thing we want you to know before you start using Bare Face Balm, it's this:

Start small.

Because it's a concentrated waterless balm, you don't need to cover your face in a thick layer.

Start with a tiny amount. Warm it between your fingers. Press it into your skin. Give it a moment. Then decide if you need more.

It's skincare that's designed to be used thoughtfully rather than by the handful.

So, what is Bare Face Balm really for?

It's for the days when your skin needs a little more.

When your face feels dry after a long day. When your skin feels tight. When your barrier needs some extra support. When you want to simplify your routine. Or when you simply want that beautiful feeling of soft, nourished, comfortable skin.

We didn't create Bare Face Balm to make skincare complicated. Quite the opposite.

We wanted to create one beautiful, concentrated balm that brings together some of our favourite botanical ingredients and makes caring for your skin feel simple.
